Thialf speed-skating rink has undergone drastic rebuilding and has been made more sustainable at the same time. Although the original building’s oval structure has been maintained, the design (a joint project executed by DAY and ZJA Architects) has given the rink a completely new image, both inside and out. Working on the principle of “everything centres around the ice”, all the amenities – the grandstand, the press office, the hospitality services, the offices and the elite sports training facilities have been positioned around the rink.
Every feature of the new interior reflects elite sport, as here too, the philosophy is that “everything centres around the ice”. Espero’s contribution to the work comprised supplying several Sonico 85 37dB (corridor) walls and four Sonico 100 walls for meeting rooms.
